ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

ARCHITECT / DESIGNER / EDUCATOR

SALVATORE LEONARDI

Mr. Leonardi was born in Vicenza, Italy, a city rich in culture characterized by extraordinary examples of Palladio's architecture. At 18, he moved to Milan where he attended the Faculty of Architecture at Polytechnic of Milan. During his studies he became a teaching assistant to Prof. Marina Molon and Prof. Walter Barbero (architectural planning).  He worked in Africa with a project co-sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Polytechnic of Milan and Ardhi Institute of Dar es Salaam. He traveled to Tanzania conduting projects of surveyance and historic conservation for colonial architecture. 

He graduated with top honors and soon after won a full scholarship to attend a Masters in Architecture at the prestigious Polytechnic of Turin.  In his final thesis he presented a strategy of preservation for historical architecture in developing countries connected with a training program to specialize local workforce. His writings were published by Polytechnic of Turin.


He is a licensed architect all across Europe and member of the Order of Architects of Milan. 

He founded and started working with his own company and collaborated with several firms in Milan such as Studio Romano Bramante and Studio Pedroni.  During his professional career he experimented with various fields of design practice such as Architecture, Interior Design, Historic Conservation, Scenic and Costume Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Publishing and Web design.
 

In early 2011, he decided to face new challenges in his personal and professional career and moved to Los Angeles where he attended the Certificate in Interior Design at UCLA Extension completed with honors in 2013.  His experience as a licensed architect together with his broad knowledge in a variety of design topics and his many professional skills, made him a preferred teaching assistant and guest lecturer among many instructors and later led him to become instructor in several courses of the Interior Design And Visual Arts programs at UCLA Extension.  In 2019 he joined the faculty at Otis College of Art and Design Extension, teaching courses of Drafting, Perspective Drawing, Space Planning and Scenic Design for the Interior Design and Lighting Design Programs.
